Transforming Tragedy Into Hope
In 2015, Joseph Mannino's wife, Jayne, died suddenly from a brain aneurysm. Now he has turned his tragedy into generosity and hope for others. While he remains heartbroken today, Mr. Mannino is determined to honor Jayne's memory by helping to prevent other families from suffering a similar loss. He recently donated $30,000 to form the Joseph & Jayne Mannino Memorial Brain Aneurysm Research Fund, which will help fund medical research for the treatment of brain aneurysms.
Taking Steps To Make A Difference
We would like to express our appreciation for the Pilibosian sisters and the Grombala sisters. These young ladies established the Mind Over Matter 5K Walk/Run to raise money for brain cancer research. Over the past 6 years, this 5K has raised more than $100,000! Proceeds from this year's event, which was held on May, 13th in Michigan, will benefit the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education & Research Foundation.
Since 1940, Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates has charted a rich history of brain and spine innovation. Our neurosurgeons have changed the lives of countless patients from across the country and around the world. Over the decades our practice has developed pioneering procedures and participated and led clinical trials that seek to broaden the scope of patient care. We have chosen to expand and amplify these efforts by establishing the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education and Research Foundation.
Through this foundation, new frontiers of the neurosciences can be explored and new discoveries that improve results for patients are just around the corner. Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education and Research Foundation, a 501c3 corporation, will provide new resources to physicians who are already making enduring contributions to the field of neurosurgery.
With the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education and Research Foundation we hope to ensure that the level of brain and spine innovation in our region continues to flourish and make a positive impact on patients for years to come.
