Joseph & Jayne Mannino
Memorial Brain Aneurysm Research Fund

From pain and loss comes hope and an investment in the future

Joseph Mannino of Lincolnton, NC, donated $30,000 to the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education and Research Foundation to further the study and treatment of brain aneurysms. The donation was made in memory of Joseph’s beloved wife, Jayne, who died suddenly due to a brain aneurysm in 2015. This contribution started the Joseph & Jayne Mannino Memorial Brain Aneurysm Research Fund, a dedicated research fund within Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education and Research Foundation. This new fund will provide a pathway for others to make contributions or direct endowments to the foundation specifically for brain aneurysm research.

“Mr. Mannino’s generous donation will impact how physicians diagnose and treat brain aneurysms in the future,” said Hunter Dyer, MD of the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education and Research Foundation board. “The research made possible by Mr. Mannino and others who donate to our foundation is the cornerstone of future medical innovation.”

Brain Tumor Fund

The Brain Tumor Fund is committed to advancing the science of brain tumor care and providing patients and their families with the support they need throughout their treatment course. Through your generosity, we can continue to provide patients with critical daily support and conduct research to discover new life-changing treatments for brain and spinal tumors.

Events like the 8th Annual Mind Over Matter 5k Walk are a fun way to support the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education and Research Foundation. The Pilibosian and Grombala families have hosted this event to raise awareness and funds for brain cancer research. Over the past eight years, this 5K has raised more than $145,000 thanks to contributors like you! Proceeds from this event go to the Brain Tumor Fund, a sub-fund of the Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Education & Research Foundation, which was established by Michigan native, Anthony Asher, MD, FACS.
